Adobe has become the industry standard, but their software pricing in the past required a large yearly investment. Today they now offer more affordable monthly pricing options and depending on which plan you need you may find some value there. For some it’s still not worth the investment, especially for users that just need to make simple and infrequent edits.

Photopea – Web-based
Photopea is a web-based editor that does not require any software downloads. You can work with photo and vector graphics saved in common industry standard formats including: PSD, AI and PDF. It can be used for image editing (including RAW formats), making illustrations, web design or converting between different image formats.

Gimp – Open-Source Software Download
GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) is a great alternative for both simple and more complex editing. Gimp is a open-source software program that you can download for free. It works on both Windows and Mac operating systems.
Packed with features, it’s main drawback is the inability to edit RAW photos and will be a bit of a learning curve for most.
